Earth Day 2010: Care for the Planet is today’s focus.
Earth Day was conceptualized on April 22, 1970 with its principal founder, US Senator Gaylord Nelson. Now on its 40th year, the Philippines is one of the many countries around the world that supports and participates in the Earth Day activities making its cause successful. This year’s national theme for Earth Day 2010 is “ Hamon ng Panahon: Climate Change” (Kilos Na!, Ngayon Na!)
Relative to its observance on April 22, 2010, the Municipality of Amlan, Negros Oriental through the able leadership of Mayor Bentham de la Cruz manifested full support to mother Earth by conducting a coastal clean-up on local seas.
The municipal employees, Philippine National Police (PNP), Barangay Officials, Maxino College student’s volunteers , with special participation of the PETRON Phils.- Amlan Branch and the Environment and Natural Resources Division (ENRD) Negros Oriental employees formed part in making the activity possible and successful.
Hence, everyone has a role to play in this endeavor and that let us work hand in hand in making our world a better place to live in!
Let’s help build a healthy and clean environment for our children and our children’s children. Good luck to Mother Earth.
