WELCOME TO REFORESTATION PROGRAM

The 1995 NSO census revealed that  16,145 persons settled  in  the town’s 6, 604 hectares of land, indicating a density of roughly 2.51 persons per hectare or 251 persons for every square kilometer (ppsk).  This shows a slight increase of 2.80 percent compared to the 1990 figure of 244 persons per square kilometer.  Amlan’s density is expected to increase to 273 ppsk in the year 2011.

Urban area, consisting of barangay Poblacion, Mag-abo and portions of barangay Tandayag, Tambojangin, Jugno and Bio-os registered a combined population of 11,978 and 12,481 in the year 1990 and 1995, respectively.  At this number of persons, Amlan’s population density then was 181 and 189 persons per square kilometer, respectively.

Based on  Housing and Land Use Regulatory Board’s  (HLURB) standards, the municipality’s urban population density in 1990 and 1995 are considered within low density level; and may remain under this status even after ten years if the present population growth rate continues.

The town’s present urban density is very far below the medium level.

Being Amlan’s administrative center and considering that it has the least land area, Poblacion, ranks first in terms of the level of population concentration among the eight barangays in the municipality.  The 1995 data, as reflected in the table below, shows that barangay Poblacion had a population density of 10 persons per hectare or 1000 persons per square kilometer.  Poblacion’s density in 1990 and 1995 are the same.  This is attributed to the declining population of the barangay in five years.  Poblacion was followed by the adjacent barangays Mag-abo and Jugno. On the other hand, the interior barangay of Jantianon was the most sparsely populated barangay of Amlan in 1995.  With a land area of 2,282 hectares and a population of 2,028 in 1995, its density was less than one person per hectare.  It was followed by barangay Silab, which only had one person per hectare.

By the year 2011, the town’s population density is computed to be at 273 ppsk while its CBD will have 993 ppsk.

Household and Household Size

Based on the 1990 and 1995 statistical data of NSO, the increments of the number of households (HH) for the five-year period registered 204 or about 6.20% over that of the 1990 figure.

In 1990, the number of households in the municipality totaled 3,086, while in 1995 it was 3,290 indicating an average household size of five persons per household during those years.  Among the eight barangays in Amlan, Jugno had the most number of households, with 597, in 1995.  It was followed by barangay Tandayag with 593.  Said barangays are both located along the national road and registered high population in 1995.  This explains their respective positions in the hierarchy of barangays in terms of number of households.  On the other hand, barangay Poblacion had the lowest number of households in 1995.
